This Weekend Pet Show Cancels. Memphis own Country Cat Family is chagrined

(Memphis 8-5-17 BenQQ) In an age where every group gets to have its own big meeting or confab, the cancellation this weekend of the Memphis Pet Expo comes as an especially bitter shock to thousands of area pet owners and vendors. The event was slated for today and tomorrow at the Agricenter.

The cancellation deprives contact of otherwise attending local petsters, as well as animals themselves, to a wide range of services and products.

Sheila Rilenge, CEO of Amazing Pet Expos, said Aug. 3 in an email to vendors, their registration fees would be paid back within two weeks. Judging by booth numbering, hundreds apparently paid anywhere from $300 to possibly $600, or more, depending on exhibit fee factors.

One such exhibitor, the Memphis Country Cat Family, an affiliate of, was scheduled to roll out its early childhood picture book reading series DVD.

"At this point there I see absolutely no intent of wrong doing," says Ben "BenQQ" Harrison, photographer and writer of the children's picture book series. "The producing organization was dedicated and responsive, but something obviously had gotten out of hand in event implementation."

Harrison says he first noticed signs of distress this week when the Agricenter, the location of the event, did not accept payment for electricity Aug. 2. At that time the Agricenter told him the event had not been 'finalized.'

"However," says he, "Amazing Pet Expos processed an additional $60 order from us for wi-fi connection on the same day. So I was probably like any other vendor hoping Amazing would mush on and pull the event off."

Harrison says this particular outcome, though unusual, comes with the territory for vendors in any exhibit event who risk money and time in fees and labor in the pursuit of making a profit.

"This is one reason, I set up just recently for events and vendors." More information will be forthcoming in this site. Vendors and exhibitors can participate free in the social site.

As of now similar events are listed on in 27 cities.
